The Jamia Mosque Committee has launched a special Photo Exhibition celebrating 100 years of Jamia’s remarkable journey — a century of faith, community service, and leadership at the heart of Nairobi.

The exhibition, which opened on 27th October 2025 at the mosque’s Multi-Purpose Hall, showcases rare and archival photographs tracing Jamia’s transformation from its humble beginnings in the 1920s to its present-day role as a spiritual, educational, and social pillar within Kenya’s Muslim community.

According to the Secretary-General of the Jamia Mosque Committee, Abdulbari Hamid, the exhibition reflects Jamia’s deep and lasting contribution to Kenya’s history.

“This exhibition is not just about photographs — it’s about telling our story of faith, sacrifice, and resilience across generations,” said Mr Hamid.

He said the Jamia Mosque had remained a cornerstone of guidance for both the Muslim community and the wider society.

“For a hundred years, Jamia has stood as a symbol of unity, education, and service to humanity,” he noted.

The launch brought together dignitaries, scholars, and community leaders who have been part of Jamia’s long journey. Mr Hamid emphasized that the event is meant to inspire young people to preserve the values on which the mosque was built.

“We want our youth to see these photos and remember that every generation has a duty to protect and advance the spirit of Jamia,” he said.

The exhibition runs from 27th to 30th October 2025, offering visitors a chance to explore the story of one of Kenya’s most iconic religious institutions through imagery and memory.

“As Jamia marks this milestone, we reaffirm our commitment to continue serving our community and our nation for the next hundred years,” Mr Hamid added.
