Tanzanian star Zuchu stole the spotlight on Saturday 30 August 2025 with a magnetic performance at the closing ceremony of the CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) final at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
She took the stage alongside Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo and Kenyan favourite Savara, forming a powerhouse trio that lit up Nairobi in celebration of East African unity and culture .
The show began at 2:00 Pm hours before the football final between Morocco and Madagascar kicked off at 6:00 pm.
Kasarani buzzed with electricity as fans streamed in, queued early, and stormed the gates, their excitement building for both the game and the spectacle ahead.
On stage, Zuchu's presence was magnetic. Though some social threads purported controversy over her inclusion, she had previously dismissed rumours that she would refuse to perform in Kenya—calling such claims baseless and reassuring fans of her deep regard for them.
During the performance, a segment of the crowd was caught booing on video, though it appeared to be a small and isolated reaction rather than a mass rejection.
More broadly, coverage and fan commentary painted a picture of awe and enthusiasm, with many lauding her artistry and emotional connection with Kenyan audiences.
Zuchu’s admiration for her Kenyan fan base is well-known.
She has often said that Kenya represents her largest audience, and the CHAN stage offered a chance to reaffirm that bond.
In an Instagram post earlier that day, she shared her pride and nerve-tingled excitement: “Sold out! … Today I will not only be representing my nation to the world but also fulfilling one of my biggest dreams. … The stage is set, and I am ready”.
The performance was a festival of sight and sound. Kasarani's lighting, choreography, and soaring vocals coalesced into a vivid cultural moment that mirrored the tournament’s spirit.
Fans waved flags, danced, and sang along—committing Kenya and Tanzania to a shared moment of joy that transcended football.
For Zuchu, the night was more than a show—it was proof of her cross-border resonance and a reminder of how music can unite.
On this day, Kasarani was not just a stadium. It was the heartbeat of East African celebration.
