Police detaining man arrested with narcotics in Mumias

Police are detaining a 26-year-old man they arrested on Friday, September 19, 2025, in Mumias West, Kakamega County, for trafficking cannabis.
In a statement on Saturday, September 20, the National Police Service (NPS) said the suspect was intercepted along the Bungoma–Mumias road at Lukoye village in an intelligence-led operation.
According to NPS, “the suspect was found with 40 brooms of cannabis sativa, valued at KSh300,000, which were seized as exhibits.”
The man remains in custody awaiting arraignment in court.
Police commended the officers involved in the operation, saying, “We reaffirm our commitment to intensifying the crackdown on drug trafficking and related crimes across the country.”
The service also appealed to members of the public to continue sharing information that could help dismantle narcotics networks.
