2027 Presidential race: Kalonzo Musyoka condemns stoning of opposition rally

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has condemned an incident in which stones were thrown at an opposition rally in Embu County, terming it a desperate attempt to silence alternative voices.
Mr Musyoka said no act of intimidation or violence will stop the Opposition from engaging Kenyans and advocating peaceful political change.
He urged leaders across the political divide to embrace tolerance and reject fear-driven politics.
“Kenya stands at a crossroad today. No amount of intimidation, stones thrown at our vehicles, or threats made to us will stop us and the people of Kenya who have clearly said WANTAM!” said Mr Musyoka.
He added that the opposition shall not buy fear.
In a Facebook post published on Sunday evening, Mr Musyoka accused the government of targeting opposition figures and warned that democracy was under threat.
He said the team, which includes former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, People's Liberation Party Leader Martha Karua, former National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi, and Democratic Action Party Kenya leader Eugene Wamalwa, will continue to engage citizens across counties.
"This is the government-in-waiting. We shall not be intimidated,” he said.

Drawing from a church sermon at the Ambassadors for Christ Ministry, Ciagi-ini Branch, Mr Musyoka cited Isaiah 41:10, reminding Kenyans that faith should overcome fear.
“The preacher’s words, Msiuziwe uoga, were a deep reminder that fear is not godly,” he wrote.
Meanwhile Cabinet Secretary for Public Service Geoffrey Ruku dismissed the Opposition’s claims.
He accused the leaders of using inflammatory language during recent rallies in Embu and neighbouring towns.
Speaking at Full Gospel Church, Siakago, Mr Ruku said opposition figures had insulted elected officials, including Governors Cecily Mbarire (Embu) and Anne Waiguru (Kirinyaga), Members of Parliament Nebart Muriuki (Mbeere South), and Mr Eric Muchangi (Runyenjes).
“They hurled insults and demeaned leaders who are delivering development to their people,” said Mr Ruku.
He urged politicians to focus on issue-based debates and refrain from utterances that could incite violence or divisions.
The CS added that Embu is benefiting from several ongoing national government projects and dismissed claims of neglect as misleading.
