Amnesty International-Kenya has told the Kenyan government to locate missing Turkish individuals, after worrying reports on Friday that the seven(7) were abducted.

They are assylum seekers.

AI-Kenya wants the Kenyan government to locate the missing individuals and ensure that they are safe with their families.

"Amnesty International-Kenya calls on the Government of Kenya to take immediate action to locate the missing individuals, ensure their safety and return to their families," AI-Kenya Director Irungu Houghton.

He also reminded the Ministries of Interior and Foreign Affairs, Judiciary of Kenya, Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU), Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), Independent Policing Oversight Authority (Ipoa) and the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNHRC) that the repression is an international crime.

"We demand swift and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding their abduction and that those responsible be held accountable," added Mr Irungu.

AI-Kenya called upon the United Nations (UN) and all international communities to remain seized of the implications of the developments.

The Kenyan government is however urged to ensure that all assylum seekers and refugees are protected.

According to Amnesty International-Kenya three of the individuals are reported to have been released.

The Turkish citizens were abducted in the early hours of Friday in Nairobi.

The seven individuals are feared to have been abducted by Turkey's National Intelligence Organisation because of the alleged link to the Gulen Movement.
