The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has assured the public and travellers that operations at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) will continue as normal despite a planned strike by aviation workers.
In the statement released on Friday, KAA management says the authority has put contingency measures to ensure the looming strike by aviation workers does not affect the airport's operation.
The authority confirmed receiving a strike notice from Kenya Aviation Workers Union on August 12, 2024.
KAA management also disclosed that the authority, the Ministry of Roads, and Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, are holding the discussion to reach an agreement.
“Discussions are ongoing between the Ministry of Roads, and Ministry of Labour and Social Protection to reach an amicable agreement,” KAA said.
It added: “We are also committed to maintain the highest standards of service for all passengers and stakeholders at all our airport facilities across the country.”
