DNA confirms body recovered from lake is not missing Wajir MCA

Now the identity of the body at the mortuary remains a mystery.

Two(2) DNA tests have revealed that the body recently recovered from Lake Yahud is not that of Yusuf Hussein Ahmed, Ward Representative for Della Anole.

This was confirmed on Thursday by his family, who said that pathologists had confirmed the negative result.

The DNA result adds to the mystery surrounding the disappearance of the MCA, who went missing on September 13, 2024, after it was reported that he had been abducted by unknown assailants in Nairobi.

Two(2) pathologists were involved in the case, one(1) a private doctor hired by the family and the other a government doctor.

They took samples from the MP's mother, his two(2) brothers and tissue from the body, which is currently being kept at Wajir Hospital mortuary.

"The results show that the body is not his," said a family source.

The unidentified body at the Wajir mortuary, which is six(6) feet two(2) inches tall, is of Somali origin.

The body was not burned and no body parts were cut off, according to the pathologist, but some parts appear badly damaged due to decomposition.

The cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma to the face leading to internal bleeding in the head.

Earlier reports that the MCA's body had been found caused tension in Wajir, with locals protesting against security agencies in the county.

Earlier, the family told NTV that the abducted MCA had been summoned by the Wajir County Security and Intelligence Committee (CSIC) chaired by the county commissioner, Mr Karuku Ngumo.

Mr Ngumo has since denied the allegation, despite a letter purportedly signed by him on August 6, 2024, requesting the MCA to appear before them on August 6, 2024, to discuss "security related issues".

Mr Hussein was abducted while travelling in a taxi in Nairobi.

Mr Wambua Kioko, the taxi driver, told police that armed men got out of two(2) unmarked Toyota Land Cruiser Prados which blocked their way and forced the politician out of the vehicle.

The identity of the body at the mortuary remains a mystery.
