The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has vowed to conduct free, fair and credible by-elections on November 27, 2025.

The Commission said it will airlift ballot papers to remote and high-risk areas, including Banisa and ManderaK, to ensure every voter is reached, regardless of distance or security challenges.

IEBC also invited all 51 contesting political parties to witness the arrival of the ballots, a move it says reinforces transparency in the electoral process.

Chairperson Erastus Ethekon while receiving the ballot materials at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), urged political actors to respect the integrity of the process.

He said the airtime and logistics are ready, and that IEBC will ensure no part of the country is left out.

The ballots were printed at Inform Lykos (Hellas) SA in Athens at a cost of KSh 27 million, IEBC confirmed.

The commission said the papers contain full security features — a reassurance to voters concerned about fraud.

IEBC has also mapped out detailed dispatch routes. It plans to publish the schedule so that party agents, observers and citizens can monitor delivery of materials to polling stations.

Mr Ethekon said the commission has coordinated closely with the National Police Service and other agencies to secure the process.

“We will protect not just the ballots, but the right to vote,” he said
