Kenyan youths have been challenged to embrace smart agriculture in order to roll back poverty.

Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti have said modern agribusiness ventures are key to unlocking the food deficiency not only in Kenya, but also in the region.

Speaking on Saturday in Yatta sub-County during the launch of One Acre Smart Farming programme, the two(2) leaders noted that modern farming was the new frontier in addressing the high levels of unemployment amongst the young people.

"I have invited the Kenyan youths to go for smart farming. If we can utilise every acre and do value addition, the future of this continent would be bright," said Mr Musyoka.

He lauded the founder of the programme, Bishop David Masika, for initiating the programme.

Governor Ndeti said her administration will partner with Bishop Masika as the advisor on matters agriculture to increase food production.

"We have done over 100 dams in Machakos County and we will stock all of them with fish fingerlings to provide protein to our people," Governor Ndeti said.
