A Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldier died on Tuesday while undergoing treatment after he was hit on the head by a stone during an altercation outside a bar in Mirema area of Kasarani, Nairobi.

The tragic incident involved Senior Private Kelvin Ndung'u from Moi Air Base.

According to a police report, Private Ndung'u was fatally injured during an altercation outside a bar in Nairobi on the night of August 31, 2024.

The situation, which began inside the establishment, escalated outside where Ndung'u was hit on the head with a stone by one of his companions, leaving him unconscious in a nearby ditch.

Police said local boda boda riders discovered Ndung'u unconscious and immediately alerted the police.

Police quickly rushed him to Jesse Kay Hospital on Lumumba Drive.

After being identified as a member of the KDF, Ndung'u was transferred to the Defence Memorial Hospital for specialised care.

Despite medical efforts, Ndung'u succumbed to his injuries on September 3, 2024, three(3) days after the incident.

The police have launched a murder investigation in response to the tragedy.

A team has been dispatched to collect evidence from the scene and interview witnesses, including club staff.

Authorities are also examining CCTV footage from the area in a bid to identify and arrest the attackers.

While no arrests have been made, investigators are pursuing promising leads.

In a separate but equally disturbing incident, Nyahururu police are investigating the mysterious death of a woman in her 40s.

Her body was found in her bed with no visible injuries and has been taken to the Nyahururu County Referral Hospital Mortuary for autopsy and further investigation.
