Detectives have recovered the missing severed hands of Warris Daud, who was abducted on Monday before her mutilated body was dumped in Machakos County.

Also recovered was the car that police believe was used in the abduction and subsequent murder of Warris, her 12-year-old daughter and her niece who went missing from Eastleigh before their bodies were found in different locations.

Confirming the recovery of the hands, the National Police Service (NPS) Spokesperson Dr Resila Atieno Onyango said they were found dumped in South C, Nairobi County on Wednesday.

“Two human hands were recovered at South C along Five Star Road and are believed to be those of Warris Daud,” she said.

The three(3) women Warris, 38, Nuseiba Dahir,12, and her niece Amina Abdirashad,23, went missing on Monday before their bodies were found with injuries on the hands, neck and back in Parklands, Bahati, and Chumvi in Machakos County.

Police believe that after dumping the body in Parklands, the suspect headed to South C, where they dumped the severed hands of Warris, before heading to Machakos County where they left her mutilated body.

Police are analysing CCTV footage and payment details from a petrol station where the suspect fuelled the vehicle during this journey.

Meanwhile, detectives on Thursday recovered the vehicle which they believe was used in the heinous act at Ukulima Market in Kamukunji, Nairobi.

At the same time, homicide detectives at the DCI headquarters were questioning a woman of Somali origin who has provided crucial information.

A senior detective attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), who is privy to the ongoing investigations, told the Nation that the woman alleged that she was also abducted along with the three victims and was kept in the same room where they were locked up after their abduction.

The kidnappers demanded a ransom for her release and her family managed to raise Sh1 million, which was deposited in an Ethiopian bank account.

Her testimony is one of the key clues being investigated in these mysterious murders, and police are investigating whether she was an accomplice or a victim.

So far it remains unclear who wanted Warris whose husband lives in the United Kingdom with his other wife plus the two girls dead and what would have been the motive.

A joint team of detectives and the DCI are currently working around the clock to establish exactly what happened that led to the brutal murder of the trio.

An autopsy on the three bodies is scheduled for Friday, followed by burial at Lang'ata Cemetery.
