MCA-elect of Mumbuni North ward, Antony Kisoi, of the Wiper Patriotic Front has thanked residents for the overwhelming support that far exceeded his expectations.

In the by-election held on Thursday, Mr Kisoi secured 3,849 votes against his closest challenger Harrison Wambua of Maendeleo Chap Chap Party (MCCP), who received 2,766 votes.

Misi Mutua of United Democratic Alliance (UDA) came third with 809 votes.

Moments after receiving his certificate from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), a beaming Kisoi assured the people of Mumbuni North Ward who elected him as their MCA that he won't let them down.

“I will serve you diligently and work tirelessly to meet your needs,” Kisoi said.

He promised to repay the trust shown by voters with dedicated service, pledging to focus on the development and welfare of every resident in the ward.

Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti joined the celebrations amid cheers from supporters, describing the victory as proof of the confidence residents have in the Wiper leadership and its vision for the ward.

The governor thanked the party leader Dr Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka for giving a young candidate the chance to carry the Wiper flag, and praised voters for turning out peacefully.

She also commended the IEBC for conducting a fair and transparent election.
