The County Government of Uasin Gishu has outlined plans to fast-track infrastructure projects to achieve Governor Jonathan Bii’s objectives under pillar six of his agenda, which is infrastructure development for prosperity.

According to County Executive in charge of Roads Joseph Lagat, this financial year, the programme will include grading of more than 1,000 kilometres and gravelling of 600 kilometres, marking a significant step towards enhancing the county’s infrastructure.

Mr Lagat who toured Racecourse Ward in the company of area Member of County Assembly (MCA) Amos Kiptanui to inspect the gravelling of roads within the new Midland estate said an improvement program of roads that were destroyed due to heavy rainfall is underway.

“This gravelling exercise is one of the many projects underway. Despite financial constraints, we are committed to maximizing our own sourced revenue on priority projects,” said Mr Lagat.

He acknowledged that delayed funding had posed financial challenges but emphasized the county’s determination to effectively utilize available resources to ensure the progress of key infrastructure projects.

MCA Kiptanui on his part commended the County Roads Department and the Governor for their continued support and dedication to delivering quality projects.

“The new roads will greatly enhance the transportation of goods and services. We ask residents to remain patient as we work through the financial challenges affecting the implementation of some projects across all county governments,” said Mr Kiptanui.

He added that the county leadership remains committed to delivering quality services, announcing his plan to distribute bursary funds to support students in need beginning next week.
