Unsettling details are slowly emerging how some senior Kisii County officials were recently subjected to clean toilets at a home of a senior local politician as punishment after one was left unflushed after use.
In the first ever interview with journalists Monday, the officials said the memories of being forced to clean toilets haunt them to date about three(3) months since it occurred.
One(1) officer said, so revolting was the incident that it keeps evoking memories akin to Jews being forced into labour at a Nazi concentration camp.
"I went to humble school and later to university and never been forced into an an indignity this low as being forced to clean a lavatory up like a convict," said one angry officer.
They all requested anonymity citing sensitivity of the matter.
The officials had early been summoned to a meeting by the politician which dragged well into the night.
By 10pm they started leaving one after another, but scarcely had they reached their homes when they were called to return which they quickly did.
"Initially we did not know why we were asked to return but it got shocking when the overbearing wife of the politician emerged from the shadows in pajamas and began shouting and haranguing us…telling us we were primitive lot and that just can't use her toilets right before ordering that cleaning by us," the officer said.
"At first we initially watched with disbelief as the wife ushered us to the reportedly soiled toilet located within the vast compound to clean it.
"We shortly learnt she was overly determined that we had to clean it before we check out of the home," he told journalists.
The officials later checked out around midnight.
One officer, whose phone was initially off, was patiently waited for to drive back before the cleaning could start.
"In fact, we reached on his wife's phone line, and he had to return to join us thinking there was some administrative matter which needed attention fairly urgently. Some of us were looking forward to getting some cash because we were broke so we thought," reported another.
Throughout the interview the officers darted their eyes helter skelter, scanning the vicinity for potential spies as they shared the ugly details of the humiliating incident.
At first on arrival at the politician's home, they went on, they did not know what was awaiting them i until the said woman emerged.
"By then had been ushered into the hall where we were initially holding the meeting and here we kept sharing jokes amongst ourselves thinking the big man could come to give us something," said another.
He said only when the last man had arrived did the wife emerge in her pajamas and begun reading a riot act on them rebuking them telling them how primitive they were that even using a simple thing as a toilet was a task to them.
"I don't know how she arrived at the conclusion that it is us who did not flash in a vast compound patronized by so many other guests. It was one experience that i would not like my children to be subjected to in life just because one gave them a job, never, "he narrated wiping a tear.
Another official said it was the singular most humiliating experience that continues to torture his conscience to date.
"I've been asking myself if I'm in the right ship or am here because of I lack options. Had it not that I had resigned from my former employer, I could just put my resignation and head back. It was too much," he said.
