City Lawyer Kyatha Mbaluka has called for an urgent intervention by leaders and the church together with investigative agencies to address the rising cases of killings especially of young women in many parts of the country.

Mr Mbaluka said incidents of murder and unexplained killings in the country have reached alarming levels.

He has called for pre-emptive action in order to save further loss of lives.

"Enough is enough! We need urgent national level intervention to address the menace of increased killings in our country in order to tame this problem," Mr Mbaluka said on Wednesday during an interview with AVDelta News at Machakos town.

His call comes as the country continues to mourn the deaths of several young women and also men who were killed recently in Nairobi, Kisumu and other parts of the country.

Last week, three female family members from Eastleigh were killied and their bodies dumped in separate locations.

Wells Fargo Human Resources Manager Willis Ayieko is also among recent victims of macabre killings in the country.

The incidents have sparked outrage and public outcry across the country.

Mr Mbaluka said people in the society should learn to mediate and solve disputes which if left unaddressed, escalate to fatalities.

He also called for authorities to establish counseling desks in public places for mediating domestic conflicts and for offering counseling services from experts and peers to affected victims.

On the criminal incidents of killings by thugs or gangland style of executions, the lawyer urged vigilance on the part of crime detection and prevention outfits like the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and other agencies to be more alert and engaged with the population to help reign on the runaway killings of citizens whether as a crime of passion or pure thuggery.

Mr Mbaluka also urged parents to be more vigilant and watch over their kids over the long holiday not to fall prey to dangerous criminals.
