Police in Machakos have arrested a man and confiscated 200kg of bhang estimated at street value of Sh6 million.
Machakos County Commissioner Josephine Ouko said the suspect was also in possession of six(6) vehicle number plates.
She said the vehicle which was headed to Mbooni, Makueni County, was impounded near Machakos Showground and was said to be from Migori County.
"Police have been trailing the man who for a while has been escaping their dragnet. They arrested him in connection with six(6) vehicle number plates and 200kg of bhang estimated at a street value of Sh6 million," Ms Ouko told journalists outside county police headquarters in Machakos town on Tuesday.
Ms Ouko said sample of the drug was taken to Government chemist for testing saying that the suspect had already confessed to have disposed six(6) bags of the said bhang on his way to Makueni.
The man did not have an identity card at the time of his arrest.
"But I'm asking security agencies in the region to be more vigilant on tinted private vehicles which may be used to transport prohibited drugs," she added.
Ms Ouko also said the suspect will be arraigned in court.
At the same time the police destroyed over 10 gambling machines in Machakos Town in a bid to rid the town of the vice which they said had led to conflict in families and wastage of resources among the youth.
Ms Ouko warned that illegal gambling will not be tolerated in the County.
