School principals thank Caring Hearts and Hands of Hope Organisation for the generous gesture.
MACHAKOS, Kenya - 16 secondary schools in Kangundo Sub-County have received a boost in their quest for digital literacy, thanks to a donation of computers from Caring Hearts and Hands of Hope Organisation.
Each of the 16 schools received three desktop computers and a laptop, distributed at a ceremony at Ngoo Sya Wendo Health Centre ground on Saturday.
The donation follows a teacher capacity-building exercise funded by the organisation, aimed at enhancing digital learning in secondary schools.
Dr Vincent Muli Kituku, Founder and Director of Caring Hearts and Hands of Hope, emphasized the importance of preparing students for a technology-driven world.
"The future of our learners will largely depend on how they are prepared for a world economy that will continue to be dictated by technology," he said.
Dr Kituku noted that the high cost of living has made it challenging for parents to provide computers for their children, making the organisation's efforts crucial in bridging the digital divide.
Some schools received varying numbers of desktops, including Misyani Girls High School, which got 25 units, and Mukunike Mixed Day Secondary School, which received eight units.
Dr Kituku pledged to continue working towards ensuring every school in the sub-county has sufficient computers.
Speaking at the event, the Principal of St Thomas Aquinas Mulingana thanked Dr Kituku for the donations, adding that the computers will assist learners in their studies and to be IT-compliant.
"This will go a long way in assisting our learners to improve in their studies and also be IT-compliant now that we are in the era of Information Technology," said the Principal.
The donation was blessed by Ms Margaret Kasiva, mother of Dr Kituku, who praised the initiative.
Ms Kasiva said it is a step towards a brighter future for the students.
