Residents were shocked Thursday morning to find the body of a newborn baby boy dumped in a dustbin at Tala town in Matungulu sub-County.

Area Assistant Chief Ancent Musembi, said that the body was found at a dustbin   at the town morning hours  by a pedestrian who reported the matter to him.

He suspects that it was dumped by a woman after giving birth.

“I am asking women who are not ready to take care of the babies to avoid getting pregnant,” Mr Musembi said.

He said it was pointless for a woman to carry a baby for nine(9) months in her womb and then dump it after delivery," he added.

Mr Musembi also urged residents who may have seen a woman who was pregnant and now is not, yet she doesn't have a baby to report to the police or his office saying that “we cannot allow such a criminal act to be happening in this area”.

He said police are investigating the incident with the aim of bringing the suspect to book.

Area residents condemned the incident and called for arrest of the culprit to face justice.

The body was removed and taken to Kangundo Level 4 Hospital Mortuary.
