Former Machakos gubernatorial candidate Nzioka Waita has asked elected leaders across the country to serve the people and stop pre-mature political campaigns.
Mr Nzioka, who is also a former State House Chief of Staff, said the campaigns were hampering service delivery as leaders spent most of their time politicking.
He said this was the time to work so that leaders can in future cite their development record when campaigning for other political seats or defending the current ones.
"I ask all politicians to serve the people first because you cannot run two offices at the same time," Mr Nzioka said on Friday during the burial ceremony of the late Mzee Peter Kilukumi at Kitie village in Mwala Sub-County.
His comment comes at a time when some leaders across the country have started campaigns for 2027 General Election.
He urged leaders across the country to shun political differences and work together for the good of the country.
''Wananchi want to see water, roads, proper health care, good
governance, greater accountability and other services in a timely
manner and not abuse of offices ,'' he said.
He warned Kenyans in the next general election to vote wisely and
elect leaders who have the interest of them at heart.
‘’I urge Kenyans to ensure they vote wisely in the next general
election, bearing in mind that the quality of life they will lead
thereafter will be determined by their choice of leaders,'' Mr Nzioka added.
He said the quality of life for any citizens is determined by the
leaders they choose saying that is why voters have a great
responsibility to choose who will occupy elective position.
