Suspect lynched, five escape in botched night robbery mission in Kisii

A suspect was on Thursday night killed at Kegati township in Nyaribari Chache, Kisii following a botched robbery mission.
At least five(5) others reportedly escaped on foot after the residents raised alarm.
An assortment of police uniforms and shoes were recovered from the scene as police begun combing the region for the runaway suspects.
The thug died in a huge blaze set on his car by the angry residents who had cornered him as he attempted to drive off.
Villagers said the deceased was in the company of the five(5) other men when they laid siege the homestead of a fuel station dealer.
"They had ambushed and locked the family in for about an hour when a child broke lose and reported to the neighbours that is the time they responded and scattered the suspected robbers. The unlucky one was killed when he attempted to drive the car off," said Mr Thomas Obongo, a resident.
They urged for investigations to ascertain if the suspects were rogue enforcement officers.
A community policing officer, a Mr Maziwa, said they had received information that the thugs also raided an M-Pesa kiosk in Mogonga and killed the attendant.
"It appears they were targeting specific businesses around the County before the mission was forced to abort by our people," stated Maziwa
Kisii County Police Commander Charles Kases said they have begun a probe.
