Chelsea held to 1-1 draw by Palace, Liverpool thrash Manchester United
Chelsea were on Sunday held to a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge by Crystal Palace, as Eberechi Eze’s second-half goal cancelled out Nicolas Jackson’s early strike.
Chelsea took the lead in the 25th minute after a swift counter-attack, but Palace found their rhythm in the second half.
Eze’s equaliser came in the 53rd minute, picking up a rebound and curling it into the net.
Despite Chelsea's efforts, including two late chances for Jackson, they couldn’t secure the win. Palace, meanwhile, earned their first point of the season after a slow start.
At St James' Park, Newcastle United edged Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 in a tightly contested match.
Harvey Barnes put Newcastle ahead in the first half, but a Dan Burn own goal levelled the score for Spurs.
Tottenham dominated large portions of the second half, but failed to capitalise on their chances.
Newcastle then hit back with a rapid counter-attack, as Jacob Murphy set up Alexander Isak for a simple tap-in to secure the win.
Newcastle remained unbeaten at home, while Spurs missed key opportunities to take the game.
In a dominant display, Liverpool thrashed Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford.
Two goals from Luis Diaz and a third from Mohamed Salah handed Liverpool an easy win as United's defensive errors proved costly.
Casemiro’s mistakes led to two of Liverpool's goals, and United never managed to get back into the game. Liverpool’s clinical finishing and solid defence maintained their 100% record this season, leaving United with a lot to improve after a poor performance.
