Detectives are currently investigating the murder of a 23-year-old woman, Seth Nyakio Njeri, whose body was discovered in her home in the Biafra area of Thika, Kiambu County.

According to police, Njeri's murder is the latest in a troubling pattern of violence against women in the country.

She is believed to have been killed either on the night of Sunday, October 13, or Monday, October 14, 2024, by an unknown attacker. Authorities are actively pursuing leads in the case.

Family members describe the Zetech University graduate as having been in good spirits when she left their home in Kamakis on Saturday.

She last spoke with them on Sunday night, but when they tried to reach her later, their calls and messages went unanswered. Concerned, her parents began searching for her, which ultimately led to the discovery of her body in her home.

On Monday morning, a friend of Njeri's contacted the family with the shocking news that she had passed away.

Police were alerted and, upon arrival, found her lifeless and naked body.

Initial investigations suggest that she had been strangled.

Authorities suspect the assailant sexually assaulted Njeri before killing her.

Detectives are focusing on a male friend, believed to be upset over a recent breakup with the victim.

Police speculate that this individual may have lured her into a meeting before committing the crime.

However, the exact motive remains unclear, and investigators are continuing their inquiries.

Statements from Njeri's friends have been recorded as part of the ongoing investigation into this tragic incident.
