Detectives make arrests in Machakos and Isiolo, seize bhang worth Sh9.4m in street value

Detectives on Thursday seized over 335kg of bhang in two(2) separate operations.
The operations were carried out in Machakos and Isiolo counties by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
At least two(2) suspects are already in custody as the hunt for two(2) more continues.
Also seized was a motor vehicle one(1) suspect was using in hauling the drugs at Kwa Mang'eli area in Athi River, Machakos County.
At least eight(8) gunny bags containing 115kg of cannabis were seized from a building under construction at Kwa Mang'eli Area.
A guard deployed at the site was arrested as police stepped up hunt for the owner of the house who fled.
In Isiolo, a multi-agency team based at Kinna VCP within Garbatulla intercepted a Nissan Xtrail following an intelligence report that the vehicle was ferrying narcotics along the Isiolo-Modogoshe highway.
The two(2) occupants managed to escape on foot, leaving behind the vehicle loaded with 44 bales of cannabis each weighing 5kg.
The drug haul is estimated at Sh6 million in street value.
Exhibits in both operations have been processed and preserved as evidence, as heightened operations against drug use and trafficking continue across the country.
