Daikin, a global air-conditioning company, has established a new office in Nairobi to cement its footprint in Africa and position itself as the leading brand within three years.
Speaking during a press briefing at the Serena Hotel, Nairobi, Mr Kanwal Jeet Jawa, Chairman and Managing Director of Daikin India, said the Nairobi office will serve as a springboard for wider expansion in Africa.
“With India demonstrating a robust upward growth and business trajectory, we have plans to get aggressive in our approach within Africa,” Mr Jawa said.
He described the office as “a key step towards strengthening our endeavour to capture significant market share.”
He added that the investment was about more than just business numbers.
“It reflects our long-term vision to drive excellence, foster partnerships, and contribute to Africa’s evolving landscape.”
Mr Junichi Omori, General Manager of Global Operations Division, said Daikin intends to accelerate its expansion in Africa to meet rising demand for cooling solutions.
“We are poised to accelerate our expansion across Africa, adopting a more aggressive approach to strengthen our market presence,” Mr Omori said.
He noted that rapid urban growth and housing demand were reshaping consumer needs.
He explained that customers were increasingly demanding greener options.
“The appetite for smart and energy-efficient air-conditioning solutions has never been greater,” he said.
Mr Omori said the company will introduce Africa-specific products and expand its dealer network.
He projected that the market could grow into a multi-billion-dollar opportunity in the coming years.
The new office is located on the 8th Floor of One Africa Place.
It will host a modern showroom and serve as a hub for marketing and promotional activities.
Daikin’s product portfolio includes split and multi-split units for homes, large VRV systems for commercial buildings, and wall-mounted models that combine energy efficiency, air purification, and smart controls.
The company has also invested in eco-friendly refrigerant technology to align its solutions with global climate goals.
