Kenya Meat Commission partners with Tushop to enhance market reach

• Tushop will offer a selection of KMC products, such as steak, minced meat, and soup beef bones, which will now be readily available to consumers on its platform.

Kenyan e-Commerce platform Tushop has announced a partnership with the Kenya Meat Commission (KMC), with an aim to diversify its product selection while increasing KMC’s visibility in the domestic market.

Tushop becomes the first online retailer to offer KMC's products.

KMC is widely known for its focus on quality and adherence to high hygiene standards, producing fresh, locally-sourced meat under the slogan “A cut above the best.”

The partnership aligns with Tushop’s goal of delivering premium and convenient services to its customers.

Through this agreement, Tushop will offer a selection of KMC products, such as steak, minced meat, and soup beef bones, which will now be readily available to consumers on its platform.

The timing of this partnership is strategic, coinciding with KMC’s ambitions to extend its market footprint.

The Kenyan meat sector is expected to generate about US$10.24 billion in revenue by 2024, with a forecasted annual growth rate of 10.51 percent through 2029.

Meat sales volumes are projected to hit 1.509 billion kilogrammes by 2029, with a 5.8 percent growth anticipated in 2025.

This partnership shows a trend in Kenya’s increasingly digital retail landscape, as businesses work to simplify consumer access to their offerings.

Quickmart Supermarket, for instance, has announced the upcoming launch of Q Soko, its digital marketplace, further demonstrating the industry’s shift toward e-Commerce.

Tushop and Quickmart both seek to capitalise on Kenya's rapidly expanding online market, which is projected to grow at an annual rate of 19.15 percent, reaching a market volume of Sh26.9 billion (US$208.2 million) by 2027, according to the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA).

KMC, founded in 1950, stands as Kenya’s oldest and most seasoned meat processor, with a strong legacy across the broader East African region.

This new partnership marks a significant step in its ongoing growth and adaptation to the modern marketplace.
