Kindiki takes over as new UDA deputy party leader

This change marks a pivotal shift for UDA following the impeachment of Mr Gachagua.

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has officially assumed the role of United Democratic Alliance (UDA) deputy party leader, replacing embattled Rigathi Gachagua.

The announcement was made on Monday by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), led by UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar and UDA Chairperson Cecily Mbarire.

This change marks a pivotal shift for UDA following the impeachment of Mr Gachagua who served as the second Deputy President under the 2010 Constitution.

Mr Gachagua was impeached over misconduct allegations among other charges.

Prof Kindiki pledged loyalty to UDA’s mission and expressed his commitment to supporting President William Ruto's goals for the nation.

"I wholeheartedly accept to be the deputy party leader of the UDA party. I will be more than available to assist the president execute his manifesto whenever required,” said Prof Kindiki.

Mr Omar emphasized that this leadership transition positions UDA to advance its objectives with a renewed focus and stability.
