Prof Kindiki was born and raised in Tharaka Nithi County.

Abraham Kithure Kindiki was born on July 16, 1972, in Tharaka Nithi County.

He was born and raised in Tharaka Nithi County.

He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from Moi University.

He later pursued further studies at the University of Pretoria, where in 2000, he completed a Master of Laws degree.

Subsequently, he obtained a Doctor of Laws degree from the same university.

Kindiki began his career as an Assistant Lecturer of Law at Moi University in 1994.

From 1999 to 2003, he worked as a Lecturer of Law at the University of Nairobi (UoN).

In 2005, he was appointed Head of the Department of Public Law and Senior Lecturer.

He also taught at the Kenya School of Law, where he acquired a diploma in legal practice.

In 2013, Kindiki was elected Senator for Tharaka Nithi County.

During his first term, he was appointed the Senate's Majority Leader.

From 2017 to 2022, he served as the Senate's Deputy Speaker.

He completed two terms as Senator, serving Tharaka Nithi County for 10 years.

In 2022, Prof Kindiki was appointed by President William Ruto--the 5th President of Kenya--as the Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Interior and National Administration where he has served to present.

October 18, 2024, President William Ruto nominated Prof Kindiki as the next Deputy President following the impeachment of Rigathi Gachagua on Thursday night.

Kindiki's name was submitted to the National Assembly on Friday where Members of Parliament present unanimously voted for him.

The announcement of the Deputy President nominee was announced by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula in a special sitting convened on Friday.

The Gazette Notice of approval was published the same day.

However, there is a court order halting Gachagua replacement.
