733 top KCSE performers receive Equity Elimu scholarships this year

Equity Bank's Elimu Scholarship supports top A and A- KCSE students with induction and future opportunities.
A total of 733 students countrywide have benefited from the Equity Bank Elimu Scholarship this year and are set for induction before joining university.
Equity Bank Manager Tala Branch Mr Stephen Mutua said on Friday that the beneficiaries were top performing students who scored grades A and A- in their KCSE exam.
He was speaking during the flagging off ceremony of beneficiaries in Tala.
Mr Mutua said the scholars will work in the bank as part of the induction process before they join university.
He said 10,000 students have gone through the programme since its inception.
The students have worked in Kenya,Uganda,Rwanda, Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of Congo where the Equity Bank has branches.
"It is a programme that is really doing good to the community," said Mr Mutua.
He called on the students to work hard and keep the fire burning, adding that they were expected to be future innovators and problem solvers.
Mr Mutua also said a total of 1,115 students have successfully received admission to top global universities such as Columbia, Harvard, Princeton and Pennsylvania universities.
He said Equity leadership Programme beneficiaries have execelled both locally and abroad in their studies and professional lives.
On jobs, he said many alumni are now working in leading local and global institutions, top universities, multinational companies, and in public service roles.
Mr Mutua noted that the Wings to Fly Scholarship Programme has supported 22,009 beneficiaries through secondary school scholarships and enabled 4,039 Wings to Fly alumni to transition beyond education.
