Kenyans searching for “Captain Ruto” are increasingly landing on the wrong person.

A warning by the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) has exposed growing confusion between its Chief Executive Officer, Capt. William Ruto, and William Ruto—two completely different individuals now being blurred by fake social media accounts.

Capt. William Ruto is the Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), while William Ruto is the Head of State and Government of Kenya.

The similarity in names has led to widespread confusion, now being exploited by impersonators online.

KPA has issued a public warning stating that its CEO does not operate any personal social media accounts.

Any account claiming to represent him should be treated as fake.

"Kindly note that Capt. Ruto does not operate any social media account and such accounts should be disregarded," says  KPA in a statement on Sunday.

KPA has advised the public to rely only on its verified platforms:

Facebook

Instagram (kenyaportsofficial)

LinkedIn (Kenya Ports Authority).

The Authority has urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious accounts, warning that impersonation of senior officials poses a growing risk in the digital space.
