Detectives from the DCI are intensifying investigations into a string of murders linked to 23-year-old Joseph Njoroge Weru, who allegedly lured young women under false pretenses before killing them.

Investigators say 28-year-old Mary Yamasei Merutuni was attacked on January 17 in Karogoto, Thiu Sub-location, and her body dumped in a stream.

Five days later, 22-year-old Beatrice Nyawira Nyokabi, a barber from Karatina, was reportedly killed in a similar manner.

Both victims’ belongings were later sold at second-hand shops.

Forensic teams have painstakingly retraced Weru’s steps.

At the suspect's home, they recovered critical evidence including clothing, house keys, and an imitation pistol.

At the murder sites, bodies and remains were documented and preserved for autopsy.

Investigators also tracked stolen items via CCTV footage from local shops.

DCI says detectives are following leads in Nyandarua, Nakuru, Nyeri, Laikipia, and Juja, investigating whether Weru may have additional victims.

“Our work is to uncover the truth behind these brutal killings and ensure justice is served,” a senior DCI official said.

Authorities urge anyone with information on missing persons in these areas to report to the nearest police station.
