Top energy officials, including Energy Principal Secretary Mohamed Liban, Kenya Pipeline Company Managing Director Joe Sang, and the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) boss, were arrested early Friday in connection with a major investigation into alleged fuel theft and corruption.

Detectives swooped on multiple offices across the capital following months of intelligence-led inquiries.

The arrests come after complaints of irregularities in fuel procurement and distribution, which are suspected to have caused significant losses to public funds.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) confirmed that the detained officials are being interrogated at a secure facility in Nairobi.

“The probe is ongoing, and anyone found culpable will face the full force of the law,” a senior DCI officer said.

Eyewitnesses report that the operation was swift, with unmarked vehicles and forensic teams securing crucial documents and electronic evidence.

Investigators describe the case as a “high-level, well-coordinated syndicate” allegedly manipulating fuel supplies for personal gain.

Avdelta News will give further updates as the investigation unfolds, with the public closely following every development in one of Kenya’s most controversial energy scandals in recent years.
