The former DP said President William Ruto should prepare for defeat in 2027.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua walked into PCEA Zimmerman on Sunday with a Bible verse and a ballot date — casting himself as both prophet and contender in the long march to 2027.
Quoting Proverbs 28:15 — “Like a roaring lion or a charging bear is a wicked ruler over a helpless people” — Mr Gachagua warned against what he termed oppressive leadership and demanded action over the chaos at Witima ACK Church.
He told congregants that authorities know the suspects yet delay prosecution, framing the issue as a test of justice and moral courage.
“The people, their willpower and resolve for a better Kenya cannot be stopped by anyone,” he declared.
“On August 10, 2027, we shall triumph.”
The former DP said President William Ruto should prepare for defeat with the current Deputy President Prof Kithure Kindiki and even an assistant from the Orange Democratic Movement wing should he drop the current second in command.
He blended scripture with strategy, faith with forecast — portraying himself as the watchful lion guarding both altar and ballot.
The imagery was deliberate. The tone was defiant. The target was unmistakable: 2027.
Hours later, the National Police Service released a formal update on investigations into the Witima Church incident.
In a statement signed by spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga, the Service confirmed that officers have recorded statements, reviewed footage, and analysed intelligence.
It urged witnesses to file formal complaints to enable evidence-based prosecutions.
“The National Police Service serves all Kenyans without fear or favour,” the statement read.
Where Mr Gachagua roared about wicked rulers, police spoke in procedural prose.
Between pulpit metaphor and investigative method, the 2027 contest already simmers — one sermon at a time.
