Drive aims to open access and register 6.3 million eligible voters.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has opened 12,520 temporary job opportunities to support a nationwide Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) exercise that will run for 30 days at ward level.
The recruitment drive is part of IEBC’s push to expand the voter register ahead of the 2027 general election, with a target to enlist up to 6.3 million new eligible voters--about 70 percent of whom are youths.
Jobs supporting mass registration
IEBC is inviting qualified applicants to fill three types of temporary positions for the ECVR period:
- Voter Registration Assistants--1,450 positions
- Voter Registration Clerks--10,780 positions
- ICT Clerks--290 positions
Applications must be submitted online through https://jobs.iebc.or.ke by Wednesday, March 4, 2026.
Successful applicants will undergo training and take an oath of secrecy before deployment.
You must be a Kenyan citizen, meet minimum education requirements and have no record of having served as a candidate or party agent in the past five years.
What the roles involve
Voter Registration Assistants will supervise teams and help ensure each ward meets its registration targets. They’ll also assist with planning the movement of biometric registration kits and reporting daily progress.
Voter Registration Clerks will operate biometric equipment, verify eligibility, guide applicants on procedures and ensure data is securely transmitted.
ICT Clerks will set up and troubleshoot digital registration equipment, help with data transmission and maintain hardware used throughout the exercise.
Supporting the voter expansion effort
The nationwide ECVR builds on the ongoing continuous registration at constituency offices and aims to take services closer to citizens at the ward level.
IEBC chairperson Erastus Ethekon said eligible Kenyans, especially youths and first-time voters, can use the process to register as new voters, update details or confirm their registration status.
By decentralising the registration system, the Commission hopes to remove barriers so more Kenyans can join the voter roll and participate in shaping the country’s future.
