The chairman of the Kamwana Foundation in Matungulu Constituency, Samuel Maithya, has donated food items to KCSE candidates at day schools in the region to support them during the examination period.

With the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) written exams set to begin on Monday, many parents have been appealing for assistance following crop failures in the area this year due to drought, compounded by the nationwide challenge of escalating food prices.

Whilst distributing the foodstuffs to several day schools in the locality, Mr Maithya stated that the initiative was designed to aid needy students during the exams, ensuring they could concentrate fully on their studies without going hungry.

“Without assistance, many parents would be unable to support their children adequately during the exams, which could jeopardise their results,” he said on Friday whilst handing out rice, cooking oil, and chapati flour at Mukengesya Day School.

Candidates from Kathithyamaa Day School also benefited.

He pointed out that the foundation has been assisting needy students sitting exams every year, not only in the region, but also at schools in other sub-counties across the country.

“This humanitarian gesture forms part of our foundation’s vision to reach out to more needy students and vulnerable people, alleviating their suffering in times of need,” he added.

He wished the candidates success as they sit for their exams.
