KPA CEO Captain William Ruto hurt in road crash, daughter dies
Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) Chief Executive Officer, Captain William K. Ruto, was injured in a road accident on the evening of April 3, 2026, which claimed the life of his daughter.
According to a staff notice issued by KPA, Capt. Ruto and the rest of his family are currently in stable condition and under close medical supervision.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
“KPA is deeply saddened to announce that our CEO, Capt. William K. Ruto, was involved in a tragic road accident yesterday evening while traveling with his family. Regrettably, his daughter did not survive,” the notice said.
The accident prompted immediate assistance from Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir and Taita Taveta Governor Andrew Mwadime, who helped the family in the aftermath.
KPA called on the public and media to respect the family’s privacy during this difficult period.
“We extend our heartfelt appreciation to our staff, partners, stakeholders and the general public for their continued support, patience and cooperation,” the notice added.
The authority said it will provide updates as more information becomes available.
