Police in the city have launched investigations into an incident where a man was found dead inside a lodge in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD).

The middle-aged man was found in a guest room he had been booked into along Kirinyaga Road, Nairobi.

According to a cleaner who found the body, the man had booked it on Saturday morning and by Sunday, he had not checked out.

The cleaner said she wanted to clean the room on the morning of Sunday, December 1, 2024, and realised there was no response to her knocks on the door.

She alerted the caretaker and other staff members who called the police upon realising there was no response.

“He booked a room and went to sleep but never woke up. Workers in the accommodation were then forced to break into the room where his body was found,” a police report said.

The room was broken into because he did not answer phone calls and did not open the door when workers tried to knock.

The room was broken into in the presence of the police and the man's body was found lying lifeless on the bed.

Police said they are yet to establish the cause of death. The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other investigations.
