Matungulu MP hails court ruling declaring NG-CDF constitutional

MP Mule praised the Court of Appeal's decision upholding NG-CDF, vowing to protect beneficial programmes and launching a 10-year education plan for 2026-2036.

Matungulu MP Stephen Mule has hailed the Court of Appeal decision that declared the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) constitutional.

Mr Mule, who was in the forefront defending NG-CDF through a Bill in Parliament to entreach CDF in the constitution, said the move was an assurance that Kenyan children will continue learning without hindrances.

"On Friday, the Court of Appeal declared NG-CDF constitutional and so we will continue educating our children," said Mr Mule.

He added that he will stand firm to ensure that programmes that are helpful to Kenyans are protected.

Mr Mule said he had formed a committee at his constituency to come up with a 10-year Matungulu Education Plan 2026-2036.

He said the plan will address education priorities in the constituency for the next 10 years.

"We need to know what needs to be done to deal with the challenges in the Education sector in Matungulu for the next ten years," said Mr Mule adding that it was wrong for the government to send students to school without books and without school fees.

"We want to tell the government to stop politicking with education and the future of our children. We need a clear plan how to improve the quality of education and ensure that all students go to school," said the MP.

The committee which includes educationists from the Constituency including Professor Francis Lelo will visit schools and collect views among stakeholders.

Mr Mule at the same time faulted the President's announcement to reduce taxes for taxpayers earning below Sh50,000 saying the move did not address the real problem as many Kenyans, among them teachers were, overtaxed and their payslips stretched to the limit.

He said the tax reduction announcement was a political gimmick aimed at appeasing voters ahead of the 2027 elections.

Mr Mule said the solution was to vote out the current government and vote in leaders who could cushion Kenyans against economic hardships.
