MP Kyule pushes women and youth groups to tackle poverty in Kangundo
Kangundo MP Fabian Kyule has called on women and young people in the constituency to organise themselves into groups to access government loans more easily.
The MP noted that the government has set aside funds through initiatives such as the Women Enterprise Fund and Uwezo Fund, among others, specifically aimed at supporting women and youth.
However, he observed that many eligible individuals are not utilising these opportunities to enhance their livelihoods.
He explained that forming registered groups would help tackle longstanding local problems, including unemployment, poverty, and limited job prospects.
"Do not remain idle at home. Register in groups so you can secure loans from these funds, as it is challenging to obtain them as individuals," Mr Kyule said on Wednesday while distributing bursary cheques to secondary school students at Kikambuini AIC Church in his constituency.
He offered to provide free guidance and business development support to any organised groups interested in starting or growing enterprises.
The lawmaker urged women to take proactive steps in wealth creation and encouraged residents to prioritise investments within Kangundo rather than in neighbouring areas, in order to boost the constituency's economic growth.
Mr Kyule also appealed to county leaders to back women's efforts to raise their economic status, describing women as reliable partners in nation-building who deserve strong support.
He highlighted key challenges facing the area, including inadequate access to water, healthcare services, poverty, and the right to education.
