Murkomen warns leaders against violence and goon politics

Mr Murkomen encouraged politicians to emulate President William Ruto, who he said, champions the politics of ideas, development, and peace.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has cautioned politicians against resorting to violence to further their political goals.

Speaking on Wednesday in Kiawakara, Kirinyaga Central Sub-County, while officiating the commissioning of the new Inoi Division Sub-County headquarters, the CS stated that the government would deal firmly with those responsible.

"We must practise the politics of peace and development. We will not allow stone throwing and fighting in churches like it happened recently in Othaya. As a government, we will put a stop to such and charge those behind it," the CS said.

The CS also instructed the Regional Commissioner and the Central Kenya security team to intensify efforts against individuals inciting chaos and violence in the region.

Mr Murkomen urged leaders to promote peace in their localities, emphasising that national development depends on leaders collaborating to unite Kenyans.

"I am calling on the leaders to always embrace dialogue whenever they have issues. They should also desist from uttering words that will lead people to conflicts," the CS added.

Mr Murkomen encouraged politicians to emulate President William Ruto, who he said, champions the politics of ideas, development, and peace.

He added that every politician must be permitted to present their policies peacefully, as ultimately citizens will choose those that best serve their interests.

The CS was accompanied by Kirinyaga Deputy Governor David Githanda, area MP Joseph Gitari, National Administration Principal Administrative Secretary Beverly Opwora, and MCAs led by Majority Leader Benson Ngahu.

Others present included Central Kenya Regional Commissioner Joshua Nkanatha, Regional Police Commander Jasper Ombati, Regional AP Commander Somane Farah, County Commissioner Hussein Allasow, County AP Commander Gladys Kosgei, and County Police Commander Abdullahi Jire, among other leaders and government officials.
