Ol Kalou MP David Kiaraho dies at the Nairobi Hospital, Speaker announces
NAIROBI — Ol Kalou MP David Njuguna Kiaraho has died while undergoing treatment at The Nairobi Hospital, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula has announced.
In an official communication to the House, Mr Wetang’ula said the legislator passed away on Sunday at about 1:20am.
“The late Hon. David Njuguna Kiaraho… passed away today, Sunday, 29th March 2026 at around twenty minutes past 1am while undergoing treatment at the Nairobi Hospital,” the Speaker said.
Third-term MP
Mr Kiaraho was serving his third term as Member of Parliament for Ol Kalou Constituency, having first been elected in 2013.
He served in the Departmental Committee on Transport and Infrastructure and the Procedure and House Rules Committee, where the Speaker said he contributed with diligence and commitment.
Born on October 2, 1963, Mr Kiaraho attended Alliance High School before joining the University of Nairobi, where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture.
Before entering politics, he worked as a professional architect and served as Principal Architect at Archgrid Systems.
Funeral plans underway
Mr Wetang’ula said a funeral preparation committee has been constituted to coordinate burial arrangements in consultation with the family.
The committee will be led by Kinangop MP Kwenya Thuku, assisted by Nyandarua Woman Representative Faith Gitau and other Members of Parliament.
“On behalf of all Members and staff of the National Assembly… I convey my heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the late Hon. Kiaraho,” the Speaker said.
Mr Kiaraho's death comes barely a month after that of Emurua Dikir MP Johanna Ng'eno.
