Good News International Church leader Paul Nthenge Mackenzie is set to face fresh charges over the deaths of 52 people at the Kwa Binzaro homestead in Malindi, Kilifi County.

The Malindi Senior Principal Magistrate, Joy Wesonga, allowed prosecutors extra time to coordinate all suspects for court. A joint plea-taking is scheduled for 11 February 2026.

Mackenzie is currently remanded at Shimo la Tewa Maximum Prison.

He already faces charges of murder, manslaughter, radicalisation, and offences against children linked to the Binzaro homestead.

His co-accused will remain in Malindi GK Prison pending plea-taking.

Investigators say Mackenzie masterminded the offences.

He allegedly used radical teachings and a coordinated network to lure victims to Kwa Binzaro.

Evidence recovered includes handwritten notes from his cell, M-Pesa transactions, and witness statements.

He will face multiple charges, including Murder under the Penal Code, Radicalisation and facilitation of terrorist acts under the Prevention of Terrorism Act, and organised criminal activity under the Prevention of Organised Crime Act.

The Kwa Binzaro homestead case follows the Shakahola Forest tragedy, where over 400 people reportedly died.

Last week, co-accused Enos Amanya, alias Hallelujah, pleaded guilty to 191 counts of murder in Mombasa High Court. He admitted he acted under Mackenzie’s direction.

Kwa Binzaro Village is in Chakama Location, Malindi Sub-County.

Investigators say victims were lured from Kilifi and other counties.

The Director of Public Prosecutions, through Racheal Amala, will now formally charge Mackenzie and his co-accused.
