Residents urge Kangundo aspirants to suspend early political campaigns

Kangundo residents urge aspirants and leaders to prioritise service delivery and halt early 2027 campaigns.

Residents of Kangundo Constituency have called on political aspirants across the region to suspend early campaigns and allow elected leaders to concentrate on delivering services to the people.

Speaking on behalf of the residents, Ms Teresia Ndinda said premature political activities were hampering development, as some aspirants were spending more time politicking than addressing the needs of wananchi.

She noted that this period should be dedicated to work and tangible development so that leaders can rely on their performance records when seeking future mandates.

“We are asking all politicians in this region to serve the people first because you cannot run two offices at the same time,” Ms Ndinda said on Friday near Kangundo town.

The remarks come amid reports that several aspirants have already begun campaigning for the 2027 General Election, raising political temperatures and, according to residents, undermining development efforts.

The residents urged both aspirants and elected leaders to set aside political differences and work together for the common good.

They emphasized the need for unity, warning that constant wrangles and divisive politics could stall progress in the constituency.

They further appealed to leaders to focus on the development agenda and initiatives that improve livelihoods rather than engaging in confrontational politics that divide the community.
