Voi's Moi County Referral seeks help to trace family of German accident victim
Moi County Referral Hospital, Voi, is appealing to the public to help trace the family of a German national, whom it revealed his name as Tendler Karl Hans.
According to the hospital, Mr Hans was admitted after a road accident but has so far allegedly revealed scanty personal details.
Mr Hans was knocked down by an unknown vehicle while cycling along the Voi–Mombasa Road near Macknon Road last week.
"He was brought in unconscious but has since regained consciousness," said a statement on Thursday.
Hospital officials say tracing his relatives has been difficult.
“The patient is now conscious but is unable or unwilling to provide personal or family information,” the hospital said.
The appeal has drawn mixed reactions online.
Some suggested official channels: Kilondo Maghenyi wrote, “Contact the German Embassy or Immigration department before posting to us.”
Others expressed confusion: Lillian Odiado commented in Swahili, “Hii nayo hata haieleweki! Nikama ana pesa ya kulipa hama kwao ndyo anesahau ni wapi” — meaning, “This is confusing! Is it that he can’t pay the hospital bill, or that he can’t remember where he was going?”
Meanwhile, Pretty Taplin reacted in Kidawida, asking why the driver would hit someone and flee: “Yaani igare jitike mwana wa mndu na jihepe!! 🤔...kaung’a nduu 😥💔” (“Why would a vehicle knock him down someone's child and just run? Its a sin”).
The hospital is urging anyone with information to contact Moi County Referral Hospital, Voi via 0432030746 / 0432030745 or email moivoi.hospital@gmail.com.
