Kwale Governor Fatuma Achani on Thursday welcomed her fellow women governors for G7 Empowerment Programme.
The event, which highlights the power and influence women can have in leadership, was being held in Kwale ahead of the Mashujaa Day celebrations scheduled for October 20, 2024.
The G7 delegation, made up of seven(7) female governors from across the country, is using this opportunity to showcase key development projects in Kwale County.
The governors, who lead some of Kenya's most prominent counties, visited to inspire more women into leadership roles and empower young female leaders across the nation.
The G7 team includes Governors Anne Waiguru (Kirinyaga), Gladys Wanga (Homa Bay), Susan Kihika (Nakuru), Cecil Mbarire (Embu), Wavinya Ndeti (Machakos), Kawira Mwangaza (Meru), and host Governor Fatuma Achani of Kwale.
The female governors began their tour by visiting various development projects that have been recently launched in the county.
They include the newly constructed Oncology Centre at Kwale Hospital, a state-of-the-art recording studio, and a teachers' training college.
The projects, designed to boost health care, education, and technology in the region, are part of a broader vision to uplift communities and promote sustainable development in Kwale.
“We are proud to be showcasing the progress that women-led leadership can bring. Our counties have made significant strides in areas such as health care and education, and today, we are showing the nation the power of women in leadership," Governor Achani said during the tour.
Adding that they want to encourage more women to take up leadership roles and pursue opportunities in all sectors of society.
