Mr Gachagua underscored that “failing to plan is planning to fail.”
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, has convened allied legislators for a three-day retreat at the Coast as the party begins early preparations for the 2027 General Election.
In a post announcing the meeting, Mr Gachagua said the retreat would give lawmakers time to reflect on the year that has passed.
The Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader says they will also assess the political landscape, and chart a strategy for the coming months with a sharp focus on the August 10, 2027 ballot.
“We shall have time to review the year that was and plan ahead for the year and the 10th August 2027 when Kenya will be liberated from the bad leadership we are in,” he said.
Organising the sessions will be Senator Mithika Linturi, DCP’s Organising Secretary, who is due to walk members through the party’s programme for the year.
Mr Gachagua underscored that “failing to plan is planning to fail.”
The retreat comes at a time of shifting political alignments.
This week Juja MP George Koimburi publicly distanced himself from Mr Gachagua’s circle, saying he would work with the Kenya Kwanza coalition — a move that raised questions about loyalty and strategy within DCP ranks.
DCP, however, has responded that Koimburi was never formally a member of the party.
Among those attending the retreat are Senators John Methu, Ole Seki, John Kinyua, Kamau Murango, Karungo Thang’wa and Joe Nyutu.
In the National Assembly, Gachagua’s allies include Joseph Kamau Munyoro, (Kigumo) and James Mwangi Gakuya (Embakasi North), both of whom are active in the party’s legislative efforts.
Also present are Wanjiku Muhia (Kipipiri), Gitonga Mukunji (Manyatta), Amos Mwago (Starehe), Mwangi Wandeto (Nyeri Town), Jayne Kihara (Naivasha), Onesmus Ngogoyo (Kajiado North), John Kaguchia (Mukurweini) and Kamande Augustine Mwafrika (Roysambu).
Another attendee is Edward Muriu, MP for Gatanga Constituency in Murang’a County.
The retreat also counts Nyeri Woman Representative Ms Gacheri Maina, Nyeri County Assembly Speaker Mr Gichuhi Mwangi and MCA David Mathenge among its participants.
