The director of Laugh Industry, Daniel Ndambuki popularly known as Churchill has urged parents to support creative economy by allowing their children to explore their talents.

Speaking on Friday at his former school, Mumbuni Boys in Machakos, Mr Ndambuki said the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) gives Kenya the opportunity to realise its digital economy blueprint.

"I'm happy that Mumbuni Boys school has been identified as a Science,  Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Centre in this region. However,  let's appreciate that not all children will be scientists, engineers or doctors. I believe it's time we looked at one area that can rapidly transform our economy.  That is creative economy," he said.

During this year's Kenya National Music Festivals, President William Ruto has said the government recognises the creative economy as a pillar of economic transformation.

While speaking on Friday during the launch of Mumbuni Old Students Association, Mr Ndambuki said this can be achieved through understanding that acting, comedy or music is not for failures in life.

The group of old students launched an initiative aimed at supporting bright students from poor families in Mumbuni Boys and Mumbuni Girls schools. The two were split some ten years ago from Mumbuni mixed secondary school.

Later on Mr Ndambuki addressed Mumbuni Boys' students and encouraged them to work hard in their studies, while maintaining high standards of discipline.

"It doesn't matter how successful you are. If you lack good manners, you are useless," he reiterated.

The Alumni Association's Chairperson Bernard Mung'ata asked members to support its initiative to support needy students.

Mumbuni Boys' School Board of Management Chairperson Prof Felix Kioli assured the association of its support.

Among Old Students in attendance were Machakos Boys Chief Principal Bernard Manoo, Gelian Hotel proprietor Alphonce Kioko, Machakos County Executive Member for Agriculture Catherine Mutanu and former Kenya National Examinations Council (Knec) CEO Dr Joseph Kivilu.
