Labour Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua has alleged that Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua attempted to overthrow the government during recent anti-government demonstrations led by the Gen Zs.

Speaking on Friday at Machakos Social Hall during a public participation exercise on the motion to impeach the DP, CS Mutua claimed that Mr Gachagua hijacked the Gen Z-led protests which later turned violent causing deaths of many youths and destruction of property.

Dr Mutua who led a number of MPs from Machakos County that supported the motion to impeach Mr Gachagua at the social hall, said the DP was engaged in tribal politics which discriminated against other Kenyans.

He blamed Mr Gachagua for “dividing the nation through his remarks of Kenya being a shareholding company.”

He said when President William Ruto was being sworn in, he promised to serve all Kenyans regardless of their tribe and voting pattern.

Defending the president, Dr Mutua claimed the DP has been preventing the president from traversing the country in selling Kenya Kwanza development agenda.

The CS also made allegations that DP Gachagua is corrupt.

He said as Ukambani region, they are also entitled to development which include availability of clean water, good roads, good services among others.

He said the reasons why Mr Gachagua has found himself in the soup is because “he refused to work with other leaders”.
