A function hosted in South Mugirango in Kisii by embattled Kisii Woman Representative Donya Toto was disrupted on Monday by armed goons who stormed and forcefully called it off.

Every attendee took to their heels to scamper for safety, including the people living with disabilities (PLWDs) who had turned up to receive wheelchairs.

At least one person sustained an injury on the head.

Mr Elijah Bogita, an activist, in a tweet on X, said an arrow hit his head letting off blood.

He was rushed to hospital for emergency medical attention.

Ms Toto did not pick calls when contacted for comment.

A video footage shared from the scene however showed members of the public scampering as police moved in to quell the violence.

One suspect was seen being seized and escorted to a police car.

It was not immediately ascertained how many suspects were arrested following the chaos.

A tent erected for the event was pulled down as skirmishes sent the attendees off into the bushes.

Reporters invited to cover the function were also not spared as the goons invaded the function.
