Eldoret City new Manager Elzeba Busienei has got down to work pledging to make the city vibrant and a leading destination for both investors and residents.
In an interview, Ms Busienei stressed the need for collective action and synergy across all departments.
“This City has a great potential. To unlock it, we must work together with every department, every officer in ensuring that everyone and everything contributes towards making this city livable and a model of excellence,” said the official.
Reaffirming her commitment to staff and service delivery, Ms Busienei assured the team of her full support.
“I pledge that my office will empower you, equip you and walk with you. Each of you has a role to play, and I am here to ensure you perform that role with confidence and clarity,” she said softly.
She further directed all section heads to prepare comprehensive reports outlining their current status, challenges and opportunities.
According to the Manager, the reports will form the foundation for strategic planning and enhanced service delivery.
Ms Busienei also expressed her gratitude to Governor Jonathan Bii, whom she said his leadership through the Nguzo Kumi development blueprint continues to shape a brighter future for the city and county.
“I am proud to be part of the team implementing this transformative agenda. Together, we will deliver,” she noted.
Mr Bii on his part reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to maintaining cleanliness, order and safety across Eldoret, emphasizing that these priorities are non-negotiable for a city of its stature.
“Cleanliness is not optional for a city of our status. We must adopt sustainable waste management practices, enforce city order and prioritize road safety. Eldoret must reflect the aspirations of its residents and meet the standards of a modern city," said Mr Bii.
Ms Busienei was officially sworn in a ceremony presided over by Presiding Eldoret High Court Judge Justice Reuben Nyakundi and witnessed by Governor Bii and his deputy Evans Kapkea among other senior county officials.
Justice Nyakundi commended the ongoing collaboration between the Judiciary and the County Government of Uasin Gishu, noting that such partnerships are key to enhancing justice delivery and public service efficiency.
Eldoret officially attained city status on August 15, 2024.
The town was conferred city status by President William Ruto, making it the fifth city in Kenya.
This event was marked by a ceremony and is seen as a significant step in the town's development and regional growth.
