Residents of Ibacho, Masaba South sub-County in Kisii, took to the streets on Friday to protest the deplorable state of county roads in the area.
More other roads across the region have since turned into muddy paths due to the heavy downpours.
On Friday, the residents said they are not ready to listen to more empty promises.
They insisted that their patience has been tested enough.
They vowed a string of more protests going forward if no action is taken by Governor Simba Arati.
Mr John Getamo, a protester, said he was joining the protest because of lack of services and not because of having any grudge with Governor Arati himself.
"I only have allergy with poor service delivery from his administration," he told AVDelta News early Friday.
The heavy rains have left gaping holes and gulleys on most county roads across the region.
"With heavy rains we need good leaders with vision and planning ability," he stated.
Thomas Gekone, boda boda rider said the deteriorating level of infrastructure across the region should spur voters to elect good leaders in the next general election.
"Next time when we go to polls, let's vote in leaders with proven development record and not just those who dish out handouts," Mr Gekone said.
Ms Mary Kwamboka, a vegetable seller--mama mboga--said she tumbled off a boda boda and it took a fortune to treat her injured tibia.
"The rider was going through some muddy section when he hit a pothole sending me flying onto a stone on the roadside. The sharp stone scratched meat off my leg," she narrated showing a scar.
